About us

Updated 20 Nov 2022 To help find family connections for the GANDYs of all spelling and variations. By joining the group you agree to provide the project with 3 things. 1) The surname of the person being tested. 2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest researched male ancestor of your male patrilineal line and the oldest researched female ancestor of your matrilineal line. 3) Permission to publish the DNA results and the names, dates and places of birth of the oldest known patrilineal or matrilineal ancestor. Gandys across America and England will link their branches to find if there is a common ancestor. The project goal is to eventually have at least one individual from each Gandy line now present in the United States. There are many folks that can trace their Gandy ancestry back to around 1790-1800 and can get no further. With enough test results we should be able to identify which of these lines are more closely related. One specific goal is to find out if the North and South Carolina Gandys in the 1790s and 1800s were descendants of the New Jersey Gandys. Another goal is to find out if the descendants of James D. Gandy and Meshack Gandy who migrated to Texas are linked to the Gandys of New Jersey or North and South Carolinas. There are other branches that have been unsuccessful in connecting, we would like to know which Gandy line they should go to. We would like to find out how far back our English Gandys link to the American Gandys. We would also like to verify if the Gandee lines are from Ganthers or if they are part of the Gandy branch.
