About us
The English county of Leicestershire has been the home of Donisthorpes from the earliest record of the name. Originally written in varying forms of de Durandesthorpe, both the name of the village and the family name go back nearly to the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066. Since that time it has been found in the US, France, and Australia as well. This DNA project is to discover if all Donisthorpes worldwide are descended from one individual.
