About us

Y-haplogroup B is one of the most ancient of all Y-DNA lineages. Members of the B haplogroup are now scattered throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. It's found in higher frequencies among hunter-gatherer populations. Its subclades include B1, B2a, B2b, and B3. B2a is the most common one, and is often found among people of Bantu origin. B2b is especially frequent among the Pygmy peoples of Central Africa. B1 and B3 are rare, and their distribution is still being studied.
