About us

The family BLAUFUKS is believed to have a common ancestor within the last 300 years. The Blaufuks (blue fox) were Jews from Warsaw, Poland. The earliest record of the surname is in JRI Poland and family histories put some members in the fur and leather trades. The goal of this project is to document the history of the Warsaw Blaufuks, locate descendants and share research and information. Many Blaufuks family members who left Poland prior to WWII or survived the war have changed their surnames. Further, it was not uncommon for a child to carry his mother's maiden name if the parents were not married in a civil ceremony in addition to the religious ceremony. Civil authorities did not recognize religious marriages. Consequently, this project is unable to rely on surname matches. Anyone who believes they may have a Blaufuks ancestor is encouraged to join. All inquiries are welcome.
