This is a Y-chromosome project organized to research the Beatty surname, including variants, and attempts to connect lineages where traditional research has failed. The project was created as an adjunct project to the Beatty-2000 Project where individual lines and research are discussed. If you are a male named Beatty, searching a Beatty connection, or suspect a surname change, come join us.

Please note:
1. A minimum of 37 markers is necessary for this project.
2. A minimum of 67 makers is required for assignment to our Phylogenetic tree with age estimates.
3. SNP tests will be necessary to confirm assignments to individual family lines.
4. If you transfer STR results from another testing company will need to test for all missing STR values to ensure proper coverage at 37 or 67 marker levels, as defined by FTDNA.
5. All discussion on DNA analysis are addressed on a private site. For information, please contact the project administrator and discuss your specifics.

Recommended Testing:
In order to maximize the effectiveness of our analyses and the results that we can deliver to individuals and the group as a whole; We recommend as preferred the tests in Group (A). A good alternative to the Group A tests are presented in Group (B).
Group A Tests: Either 67(good) or 111(best) Y-STR makers WITH a one time Big-Y follow-up test regardless of the number STRs tested.
Group B Tests: 67 or 111(better) Y-STR makers with individual SNP follow tests.
