The Babcock surname project welcomes anyone to join the project who: 1. has, or had at one time, a Babcock (or a variant spelling) surname, or 2. has a different surname other than Babcock but whose Y-DNA findings (their STR data and/or their terminal SNP/confirmed haplogroup) aligns with the evolving picture that continues to develop regarding the Y-DNA findings for those with a Babcock surname, or 3. has a Babcock lineage within their tree but that lineage is not their patrilineal line, and 4. are willing to 'Opt in to Sharing' their Y-DNA results. Regarding 3. above: Members of the Babcock-Badcock Project who have a Babcock lineage in their tree, but which is not their patrilineal line, yet still want to participate in this project, are most welcome. When someone joins a Family Tree project their Y-DNA and/or mtDNA test results appear in the 'DNA Results' of the project. For these individuals their Y-DNA results are not pertinent to a surname project that is not their patrilineal lineage. When and if such should occur an ‘Unrelated via Y-DNA’ subgroup has been created in ‘DNA Results’ for their results to be placed. Please notify the administrator to discuss the matter should the placement of one’s results in the ‘Unrelated via Y-DNA’ subgroup have been made in error.
