This data would then be compared to the relatively homogenous and distinct DNA found in the descendants of Majorcans Jews today. Their DNA is distinctive even from the rest of the Majorcan population thus enabling one to effectively compare the Puerto Rican results with that of the Majorcans. All data would be analyzed alongside genealogical and historical information to possibly track the once illegal Jewish emigration from Majorca to Puerto Rico. Members of this project will have some connection to (or combination of) Majorcan, Puerto Rican, Jewish ancestry. Welcome to the Nueva Galicia DNA project. This project comprises of the the DNA of people with ancestry from the region that was known as Nueva Galicia and whose territory included what is now Jalisco, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Nayarit, and Colima.
