Results
To date, 5 families of Wederichs have been identified worldwide. The families are located in the USA, France, Germany, Switzerland, and New Zeland.
Through family photographs and personal contacts, it has been determined that the German and French families share a common ancestor, as do the Swiss and New Zealand families.
DNA testing has been completed for the French and US Wederichs. DNA test results revealed that the Franco-US Wederichs are not related and are of different haplotypes. It remains unknown if and how the Franco-German or US Wederichs are related to the Swiss-New Zeland group.
