Project Goals
My own personal goal with this project is to either prove or disprove a link between my own Weakley family of Martock Somerset UK and the Wakeley families of Dorset right next door in the UK so to speak. The goal in general is to encourage and assist people with a documented history of the Wakeley name and its variations to have their YDNA tested and to make the results available to researchers.
The Wakeley Family DNA Project was established to encourage testing and sharing of information between members of the various related Wakeley surnames. There is also a connected surname, Rockett, which has been associated with the Wakeley name in times past and it would be interesting to see if this can be shown genetically. The same can be said for the connection between the Weakley and Wakeley surnames.
