The TURK Guild of One-Name Studies Surname Society is housed at www.turkgenealogy.com. This project includes 480 variant spellings of the TURK surname. The genealogical data for nearly 60,000 individuals within this study are maintained at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=turk-guild .

Project Goals:

The TURK Guild of One-Name Studies Surname Society seeks to obtain the full genealogical record for all indiviudals within one degree of relationship to this surname. Y-DNA results are aligned with the genealogical data in an attempt to sort families and to assist those with unknown origins to bridge unknowns in their research. All male TURK surnamed individuals without regard to ethnicity, race or religion are encouraged to participate.

Project News:

All US censuses have been extracted 1790-1930 for eight variations of the surname: TERK, TIRK, TUERK, TURCK, TUREK, TURK, TURKE, TURKS. The UK censuses 1841-1891 have been extracted for TURK.

Presently the Guild database has approximately 120,000 records for nearly 60,000 individuals with this surname or one of its 480 identified variant spellings or those within at least one degree of relationship to the surname, i.e. spouse or children of a TURK - regardless of surname. The genealogical record is correlated with the TURK Y-DNA Surname Project. The sole purpose of the two efforts is to assist those interested in TURK genealogy in their personal research. Guiding principles are that records are collected for the surname without regard to ethnicity, national origin or religion. Customized searches are done for all interested researchers without charge. Corrections and additions to the database are always welcomed and solicited.
