Swindle - Swindell DNA Project

Results

September 2006. We have our first member, Mr. T.A. Swindell. He has already tested under another project, but has transferred his results over, now that there is a specific surname project. His research indicates he descends from John Swindle/Swindell & wife Mary McPherson.
Most researchers place John's birth year as 1676 in Virginia, and his parents as being Timothy & Sarah. This family appears to originate in England.

December 7, 2006. Our second member's results are in, and he matches with our first member. He has also traced his line back to John Swindle/Swindell & wife Mary McPherson.

February 1, 2007. Our newest member, Mr. V.C. Swindell, had his test done through the National Genographic Project, and has transferred the results over to our surname project. He has already ordered an additional 13 markers to be tested, and we will post those results when they come in. This is the first person in our project to have the haplogroup of E3a. This haplogroup originates in Africa. Please go to Victor Swindell's website http://home.comcast.net/~swindellfamily/ to read more about his line of Swindells.

March 8, 2007. Victor's additional 13 marker results have come in.

March 12, 2007. J. C. Swindoll's results are in, and surprisingly we have a third haplogroup (R1a). The Swindoll line was expected to match with the R1b1 group!

April 13, 2007. R. B. Swindell's results are in, and so far he does not have a match. His lineage goes back to Hyde county, NC.

May 7, 2007. The results for S. Swindells show him to be a member of haplogroup J2, so we now have yet another haplogroup! So far he has no matches.

May 25, 2007. The results for J.J. Swindell are in, and are a nice surprise! He matches with two other men in our project. Interestingly, his gr-gr grandfather, Francis Swindle, was born about 1780 in the Townland of Gortacharn, Aghalurcher Parish, Co. Fermanagh, North Ireland. And yet, he is matching with the Swindle/Swindells who are said to be from England. This is an exciting new development for Swindle/Swindell research!

June 4, 2007. Our first female to test (mtDNA), has joined. Her direct maternal ancestor is Margaret Swindle, b. 1792 in Durham co., England. Margaret was the daughter of Richard Swindle & Ann (Bradock).
