About us

The surname SCHREINER probably has multiple origins, since it comes from an occupational name (carpenter or cabinet maker). DNA analysis may help sort out different clusters of families and guide research in the right direction. Anyone with the name Schreiner (or variant spellings) is welcome to join this project

My own specific interest is in descendants and ancestors of Hans Adam Shreiner, who settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the early 1700's. He dropped the [c] from the surname, and people with this unusual spelling may all be related. Some of his descendants now spell their name Schreiner or Shriner. The haplogroup for this group is I-M253.
