Looks like one of the initial goals has been met. There is indeed a match (37 out of 37 markers) between the RUNCIMAN families of Wanton Walls, and one of the ones who emigrated to Michigan (William from Lauder).
Would still love to hear from a descendant of the James RUNCIMAN of Michigan and anyone with a Richard RUNCIMAN in their ancestry.
The 3rd test kit's preliminary results indicates that the family of James and Janet (HOG) RUNCIMAN of Selkirk is a completely different family to that of the above Wanton Walls, Lauder RUNCIMAN family.
However, the 3rd and 4th kits do have a good match (36/37), which is a very good indication that this James does indeed belong to the family of James RUNCIMAN and Agnes HERIOT of Ayton and Dunbar.
