"Rivera" is a well-known and widespread surnames not only in the Americas but also in Europe. It also has many variations: Ribera, De Rivera, De Ribera, de la Rivera, Ribeira, Rivero, Ribero, Ribeiro and others.
This project will help to understand the Progresion of many of the “Rivera” descendnats and their common paternal ancestors.
Due to the current widesprad geographical locations of this surname, it will not be a surprise to have a match with a genetic distance of 4 or more. Each individual cultural ancestry is unique, as well as how we end up with the surname "Rivera".
Some cultures and some time in history it was a practice to give the mother surname to the child; to give the grandparent's surname and/or give the surname which sounds more important.
