Kerchner's R1b and Subclades YDNA Haplogroup Project

Project News

Attention Project Participants: Be sure to fill in your direct paternal line "Earliest Known Ancestor" field in the "User Preferences" section of your personal account page at FamilyTreeDNA otherwise a blank will display for that field in your entry. If you don't know the full name and details about your direct paternal line earliest known ancestor you could simply enter the surname of your direct paternal line earliest known ancestor in that field.

22 Dec 2005: The R1b yDNA Haplogroup Project launched by Charles F. Kerchner, Jr, P.E..
23 Dec 2005: Jason S. Clary develops alternatively sorted and color coded display table for R1b Project data. See link in Project Results section.
01 Jan 2006: Jason S. Clary provides table sorting by kit number to help the project admin and project participants find their respective data entry row in the table as the data table grows larger.
08 Jan 2006: R1b yDNA Haplogroup Project hits 100 participants mark.
08 Feb 2006: Jason S. Clary provides table sorting by surname to help the project admin and project participants find their respective data entry row in the table as the data table grows larger.
24 Mar 2006: R1b yDNA Haplogroup Project hits 200 participants mark.
25 Mar 2006: Statistical analysis of data added to the data tables courtesy of Jason S. Clary. Stats provided for each DYS marker: MIN, MODE, MEDIAN, MEAN, VAR, STDDEV, MAX.
02 Apr 2006: R1b Project Modal Haplotype added to Ysearch.org database and link to comparison and genetic distance calculations tools added to project results page.
07 May 2006: Project reaches 300 participants.
11 Jun 2006: Initial statistics published for Min, Mode, Max and other stats for initial test results for the new 38-67 marker upgrade panel offered by FamilyTreeDNA.
26 Jul 2006: Link provided to the new webpage by James Neal Fox who is collecting 67 marker R1b haplotypes from various public sources such as this project and Ysearch.org.
31 Jul 2006: Project reaches 500 participants.
31 Jul 2006: Link provided to data table sorted by Charles Kerchner's algorithm first sorting data by haplogroup color code, thence by haplogroup. YSNP verified green first, solid predictions in red second, and uncertain predictions last with the dash.
13 Aug 2006: Link to haplogroup R1b allele frequency chart posted.
05 Sep 2006: Project reaches 600 participants.

13 Sep 2007: Project reaches 1200 participants.
02 Jan 2008: Project reaches 1300 participants.
21 Feb 2008: New U Series of YSNPs launched. FamilyTreeDNA announced today that they now have several new U Series YSNP tests available. U152 is equivalent to S28 (R1b1c10). And U106 is equivalent to S21 (R1b1c9). To order these tests you must have been previously YSNP tested at FTDNA and found to be in the R1b1c branch of the R1b major haplogroup. I ordered my U Series tests today. For more details and information, log onto your personal account at FTDNA and click on your "Haplogroup" tab/section. Or email or call FTDNA at:
