The Offley Family Society DNA Project- Background

Background

The Offley Family Society was formed in 1987 to carry out genealogical research into the surname of Offley. Since then it has become apparent to us that 2 main pedigrees exist, Offley of Stafford and Offley of Huntingdonshire. There are also other branches such as Offley of Cannock. In addition there are families with similar surnames such as Offler or Offiler. There had been much speculation and debate as to whether these branches share a genetic link or are completely unrelated. At the 2007 AGM it was unanimously decided that the Society would undertake a DNA project to answer these questions.
