Project Surnames
Masiker, Masker, Massaker, Massecar, Mesecher, Mesker, Messecar
Project Background
For a few years we have believed that our common 1st ancestor was Michiel Miscaer (aka Mesger) who left Frankenthal, Germany in 1647 and landed in New Amsterdam (NYC).
The purpose of this project is: to confirm our relationship to Michiel Miscaer/Mesger, our MRCA most recent common ancestor.
We now have a perfect match for Mesecher, Mesker, Masiker, Massecar & one Masker line. Because we have an unbroken paper trail for Mesker, back to Michiel Miscaer, all of the above can now trace back to him.
All 3 Messecar's did not match these above lines. So we now have 2 distinct lines that may have a common ancestor 10-15,000 yrs ago.
The Messecar results did match a Masker family on 34/37 markers. This Masker family, also from Sussex Co, NJ was tested o/s this Project. The results are close enough to be encouraging. We will still need other MASKER family results as there is no common thread in the Masker families.
