With the introduction of Family Finder the Killian/Killion DNA project has been opened male and female Killian descendants; any way you spell it, Kilian, Killian, Killion, Killyon. . .

The Killian Y-chromosome DNA Project is forMale Killians [any way you spell it, Kilian,Killian, Killion, Killyon] who are interested in working together to find their common heritage through sharing of information and DNA testing.  The Y-project was started in 2002 to prove descendancy from Andreas Killian b: 1702 Germany d: 1788 NC.

Since 2002, the project has established baseline markers for descendants of Andreas Killian born 1702, The Colonial Killions of Orange County, NC, and John Anderson Killion born 1806 in Tennessee.  There are other members from Ireland, France, Texas, and a descendant ofMichael Killion, b. 1810 Kernersville, NC. All are looking for their ancestral patriarch.

The Y-project is open to anyone looking for proof of Killian descendancy but has no documented proof are welcome to the project.  The administrators try to help and give direction to possible solutions.

The Y-project has returned wonderful and surprising results.  The 2011 achievement was locating the ancestral villages of the North Carolina pioneer Andreas Killian and with DNA proving Sebastian Kilian, a farmer in Kühnhard, born before 1560 was Andreas Great-Great Grandfather.
