Background
Project Background: Most of the persons in the US bearing the Hooks and Hook (and there are several additional varients) surname are believed to be descended from William Hooks who arrived in Virginia sometime in 1629. In 1668 a Robert Hooks is listed as having a land grant near Stephen DURDEN in the Upper Parish of Nansemond Co VA. Allied families are Boyt/Boyett and Langston who also migrated from Nansemond Co. VA to locations near Dobbs/Wayne Co NC.
