Project Background
Controversy continues over who the first Gossetts in America were. Tradition says John of Jersey Isle who settled in Pennsylvania about 1734 and his brother Peter who settled there some years later.
However, new evidence suggests this may not be the case, and that all the Gossetts may have descended from John Gossett and wife Jane Williamson who were in Delaware no later than 1709. Evidence strongly suggests that the John Gossett in Pennsylvania may have been their son.
We have gone about as far as records searches can take us in searching our family history. We need to employ the latest DNA technology to help us prove or disprove our theories. Genetics may be our only resource to prove our relatedness.
