Project Background:

A genetic genealogy surname project to determine the Y-DNA chromosome YSTR marker alleles for various unlinked Eisenhart and Isenhart family groups and those with similar sounding (in English) family surname groups in the USA and to also determine if any of them have a genetic direct male line ancestor in common in the USA and/or Europe in the last 200-500 years.

Contributions are being accepted for this pioneering Eisenhart Genetic Genealogy Study Project to assist in paying for testing of individuals who are willing to be tested but who do not have the funds to do so and/or to pay for additional testing on key individuals to gain additional and specialized genetic genealogy DNA data about the various group's haplotype patterns and their haplogroups.

HOW TO JOIN THIS PROJECT: At this time you must have been tested either directly via FTDNA or indirectly via FTDNA via the NGS Genographic Project to join this project. Genographic Project customers must first do the free transfer of their results from the NGS database to FTDNA's database. See the "Learn More" link at the bottom of your Genographic Project personal page for how to do the free transfer of your test data to FTDNA or call FTDNA for assistance in doing the transfer. Once you have a personal account page at FTDNA, to join this Eisenhart project sign/log in to your FTDNA personal account page and click on the blue JOIN button in the upper part of your personal page screen. Find the "Surnames" projects section. Click on the letter "E" category. Then click on the Eisenhart project link. You will then see a description of this project. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the small white join button at the bottom of the Eisenhart project join page. That is all there is to it. If you have not been tested before either by FTDNA or the Genographic Project and want to join this project you need to order a YDNA test kit. Click on the Request to Join This Group link in the upper left hand corner of this screen to contact the Project Admin and arrange ordering your test kit.

5 May 2006: Eisenhart/Isenhart Surname YDNA Genetic Genealogy Project launched.
6 May 2006: 1st participant orders test kit. Kit 62902.
21 May 2006: 5th participant orders test kit. Kit 64068.
27 Jun 2006: Initial test results received. Kit 63326.
8 Jul 2006: 1st participant's test results received. Kit 62902.
13 Jul 2006: 5th participant's test results received. Kit 64068.
9 Aug 2006: 10th participant joins the project. Kit 68420.
22 Aug 2006: Global map activated with pins marking locations for some of the participant's earliest known ancestors.
24 Aug 2006: Eisenhart YDNA Project Analysis Table hosted on private server added to the Results section of this website.
28 Aug 2006: Project Contribution Fund feature activated. See the project Background tab for details.
17 Jan 2007: 15th participant joins the project: Kit 80585.
15 Jul 2008: First YDNA67 marker upgrade results received for kits 62902 and 63414. Data was added to the Y Results tables and the private server HTM webpage linked to from the Results section of this project.
