Project Background
There are discrete Cree families dating from the 1700's from Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania (five distinct lines) and various southern states in the US, as well as co. Down, Northern Ireland; Bolsover, Derbyshire, England; co. Clare, Ireland; and Scotland. Many of the other families are believed descended from the Scottish family, but few have been conclusively linked through traditional genealogical methods. The Bolsover family is believed to be coincidentally named Cree.
