The Coquigne family in America is descended from Peter Hubier Coauigne (b. 15 July 1741) and Marie Anne Coquette (b.1749) of the village of Jouarre, about twelve miles from Paris. Their son, Peter F. Coquigne (b. 16 Dec 1796), together with his wife and three children, immigrated to America in 1832, finally settling in Mundy Township, Genesee County, Michigan.
