Those taking the test as part of our group get a discount ($99 for the basic 12 marker Y-DNA test). If you sign up by yourself on the main Family Tree DNA page it will cost considerably more.
The test can tell if you tie to English or German speaking ancestors, plus whenever you match anyone, which family line you are related to. Your results are compared to all 100,000+ people tested by Family Tree DNA, not just those in our B260 test group. Also, you can join other groups on Family Tree DNA in addition to ours once you take your test!
We are achieving our goal to test every 1700's immigrant line from original surnames Bucher, Beecher, and Becker, so anyone can use Y-DNA to learn who their ancestor is, then build his tree down to your family. It's easier to build trees down than back - it's simpler to find sons than to guess who fathers are.
We already have tested many of the original ancestor lines ready to match your test. See the Ancestor List on our Research Site. For English Beechers, we have tested both a living Stephen Beecher in Kent, England and the American research authority, William Highwill Beecher, who is related to the English Beechers who arrived in CT in 1637, so if your test matches them you are related to that line.
