There are Welsings, Welzings, Welsinks and many other spellings besides. It seems likely that many are from the same ancestral origin. The only way that this can be proven is by DNA, since comprehensive records do not exist for most people. It is certain that many Welsings in the Netherlands are descended from German migrants. There are now numbers of Welsings in many other parts of the world (USA, Austria, Switzerland and France) and most of these emanate at some time from either Germany or the Netherlands.
