Weatherly DNA Project

Results

The first kit in this project was ordered on 7 June 2005. #37937 is haplogroup I1c (now I1b2a*) as SNP tested with FTDNA. It can be predicted when using Whit Athey's Haplogroup Predictor at https://home.comcast.net/~whitathey/hapest/hapest.htm. Also, at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gallgaedhil/haplo_I1c_part_1.htm Weatherly exactly matches I1c Haplotype #2, which however displays no values for markers 385a and 385b. Otherwise, the next nearest match is Haplotype #17 in part_3.htm, but which has DYS 390 = 22 (instead of 23). Ken Nordtvedt indicated that this I1c was of the Northern Continental variety.

#37937 -- I1c (G.B./England, Maryland, etc.)
#42686 -- R1b (Netherlands)

By testing others, the Weatherly modal values
in the Y-STRs will become evident.

It would be especially helpful if a descendant of James Weatherly, Sr., of Somerset Co., MD, were to test for haplotype STRs and haplogroup SNP. If the Dorchester/Caroline Co. line and Somerset/Wicomico Co. line were to match up, it would prove most useful.
