Project Background
Southeast of Rome Italy, Villavallelonga is a city located in the Marsica area of the province of L'Aquila, in the region of Abruzzo. It is the last area of residence on a road leading into the Abruzzo National Forest. A native of the town, Dr. Leucio Palozzi, is the author of a book on its history, "Storia di Villavallelonga" (Edizioni dell'Urbe). His research indicates that Villavallelonga was probably first settled in the 5th century as people fled from the barbarian invasions of Rome.
