Giles Vermillion immigrated to Maryland in about 1700. This project is for his descendants, as well as any other Vermillions (& variants) in America & elsewhere. Some say that Giles was Welsh, others say French. Perhaps y-DNA testing will lead to information about his national/ ethnic origin.

The most helpful thing that Vermillion participants could do is to upgrade to Y-700.  I would like to see two descendants of Giles Vermillion do this.  If possible, I would like for Giles to be the MRCA.  Although the test is expensive, there are frequent sales in which the price is deeply discounted, especially for those who have already done some y-DNA testing already.
