Project Goals
Our objective is the identification of all Venable families worldwide. To eventually provide a genetic standard and match for almost every Venable who uses DNA testing as an aid in their family research.
First we are concentrating on identifying Venable families who have been in the US since Colonial times.
We encourage descendants of known Venable lines as well as unidentified Venable lines that settled in the US prior to 1800 and European lines to submit DNA samples for comparison.
The second goal is to enlist the participation of at least two descendants of every major known early line in Colonial America and Europe. This will provide genetic standards for this comparison system. We know that a single DNA test is of little value. It is the comparison of that test with the test of others of the same surname that gives meaning to the results.
An additional goal is to obtain and display the pedigree chart of each participant. Ones pedigree along with the DNA test results, comparisons and analysis are important to solving problems of genealogical research where records have been lost or have not existed.
