Group Administrator: Emily aulicino@hevanet.com Group Co-Administrator: Cynthia Wells gritsgirl2@earthlink.net
Project Surnames:| Talley | Tally | Thally | Tholey | | Tolley | Tolly | Tooley | Tuley | | Tulley | Tully | Project Background: Welcome to the Talley-Tally DNA Project. My name is Emily Aulicino, and I have been a genealogists for Talley data for over 37 years. As a result, I have found many family groups with various spellings for the Talley surname, but no records, as yet, have been located to connect these families. With the hopes that DNA testing will assist in crumbling your brick walls, I am excited to be your administrator for this project, and urge you to join me in solving the surname dilemma.
As only the males with the surname of Talley (and variant spellings) can be tested, please consider volunteering or if you aren't male and/or don't carry the surname, assist in locating possible candidates to test. Each of you who can't test could also consider contributing financially to those who can. There is some funding to assist. I recommend that anyone wishing to test to consider a 37 marker as this provides a more accurate match.
In order to find DNA matches, a tester needs to allow his DNA to be available to the public. If you select to have your results made public, your results will be linked to http://www.ysearch.org to allow for matches with other testing companies. Either the tester or the project administrator may link the data with Ysearch.
I have started a Talley-Tally DNA email list which is a one-way email list from me to the group for the purpose of disseminating information on the lineages being tested and on various DNA topics as they relate to genealogy. You do not have to be a volunteer for testing to be a part of the Talley-Tally DNA email list. Email me, if you would like to be included in this e-list.
The success of this website will depend upon contributions of other Talley, etc. researchers both with participation in the DNA Project and in providing source documentation and family records to assist everyone in understanding the lineage of the various DNA groups posted to this site. As our group grows, there will be a need to revamp this website to assist its members. Send your ideas for this website, as well as any lineage you would like posted to the group email list, directly to me. In the least, I would like to post the ancestors in brief form for those who are testing.
We do wish to respect everyone's privacy, so please to not expect any dates and locations for living persons to be added to this site or the email list. It is also imperative that we post genealogical data that has good documentation to minimize errors. If you share data that is speculative, please clearly state so.
Again, welcome to the group. We hope you enjoy your visit and that you will be the one to provide that missing link we all need!
If you have question, email me at: aulicino@hevanet.com
Enjoy,
Emily

Project Background, Goals, Results and News are copyright of the specific Surname Project Project Goals: The goals of the Talley-Tally DNA Project are to:
(1.) To test descendants with the surname Talley (and variant spellings) to help determine relationships among the various family groups.
(2.) To test all descendants who suspect they have descended from a male Talley on their all male line. This includes those persons who descend from male Talley slave masters as well as persons whose surnames may have been changed with an adoption or who were given a different surname due to an illegitimate birth or for any other reason. As long as a person has Talley (and variant spellings) genes along their all male line (top line of a pedigree chart), they are welcome to join this project.
(3.) To provide another method of breaking down our genealogical brick walls.
(4.) To assist researchers in finding genealogical cousins with whom they can join forces to further their lineage.
To date, the Talley-Tally DNA project participants represents many ancestral lineages. The oldest known ancestor of these participants can be found beside the kit # on the Y-DNA results tab page.
Many Talley-Tally lineages still need representation in the Project. The following lineages may be pieces of the puzzle DNA is helping to solve. If these ancestors are or could be yours please join our Project.
Descendents of William Talley 1693, Delaware
Descendents of Edward & Elizabeth Talley 1696, Gosport, Hampshire, England
Descendents of William & Mary Townsend Tally 1719, St. John's Parish, Barbados
Descendents of Alexander Talley 1735, British Land Grant Holder in Queensborough Township, Craven Co., SC
