Project Surnames:Project Background: The Stillman surname is relatively uncommon. Recently uncovered documents (land records)in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia and conversations with other Stillman families have led to the possibility that the family of the first Stillman in Nova Scotia was larger than originally believed.
George Stillman was mustered out of the 84th Regiment in October 1783. His "known" children were identified by either their baptism, marriage or death records. Nova Scotia records for the early 1800's are very scarce. However, there are 2 or 3 other candidates that may also be children of this George Stillman.
