Simpkins Family Y-DNA Project- Background

Notice that I have a different surname, but because of FTDNA testing. I learned thru the 12 marker match & 67 Marker match that I was able to discover that I am a grandson of an adoptee grandfather who has a birth name of Harry Belmont Simpkins,b. 1894. (unk dec) Before this, I only knew the adoptive families surname (Williams).    And since then, and one of the major reasons for this family project was the fact that another Simpkins and I found that we match 66/67 Markers. We are still looking for our joint Simpkins ancesters in the u.s. We still haven't found the genealogical connection yet, but we have discovered that other Simpkins and so one goal of the project is to figure out how we might all be related or not. We still "might" be descended from the Nicholas Simpkins b. 1600 who came and lived in the Plymouth Colony and may have also been related as a half sibling to Puritan Elder William Brewster of Boston. William Brewster's mother maiden name was reported to be Simpkins.
