Members of the Shetter(s)/Shutter(s)Schetter and related families are organizing this DNA project to determine if the many variations of these surnames are derived from the original settler, Jacob Schotter who arrived in York County, Pennsylvania 7-Oct-1743 aboard the St. Andrew from Germany. It is believed that these surnames may be some of Jacob Schotter descendants. For various reasons, these names were misspelled and/or mispronounced by later generations and became essentially new names. Any variation of this name is urged to join our group.
