The goal of this project is to identify as many family lines as exist and to track the migration of families within and as they left Virginia.

February 24, 2013 - The project is looking for any male descendant, surname Sheffield or variant spellings, who is descended from the family of Robert (c 1730-1795), John (c 1745-1791),Zachariah (1755-1829) and son Jacob of Warren Co GA, Robert Jr (1782-1853) of Sumter Co GA, or William of Hancock Co GA (1761-1853).

We would like to find a male descendant with the same surname to do the Y chromosome DNA test with Family Tree DNA Sheffield's of VA and NC to determine the ancestry of these closely related men.  We will pay for the basic 12 marker test for a known descendant of any of these lines, who tests with this project.
