Welcome to the Scoggin/Scroggins Surname DNA Project.
I am glad to announce that we now have TWENTYFOUR participants in our study. Two or three others are known to have tested before the start of this group. We hope they will join. (I put that in caps because I recall, as do many of us how long it took us to get past 6 or so)
This is fantastic progress from our meager start a few years ago and I want to thank all those that have participated.
PLEASE NOTEI have just updated the site Jan 2011 and am waiting for input from a couple of participants. We have recently regrouped those who seem to be in the same lines by haplotype. This has required a re-ordering of the page on which the family histories tied to these results are listed. I HAVE been advised by one of the participants that we did mismatch one report so there could be others but we need to hear from everyone and ask that they review the results page. I have had some response to my request for checking and updating your information but would like to ask everyone to do so. I urge you all, and for that matter anyone visiting the site to review the information posted on the various test results and the lines they represent and send me an email with any suggestions. For those for which I have not added any narrative at all please contact me and send me what we might want to post and (this is important) if you want me to post your name and address as a contact on that line. thank you.
IF ANYONE would like to volunteer to be a co-administrator on this study please let me know. It would a lot of help in various ways. I have heard from one person interested in the sight admonishing me on one aspect or an other but no one yet willing to help.
Eventually we hope to organize the information on this site using the work of the respected family genealogist to which we all owe a great deal. John M. Scroggins has done work for many years across the variant family spellings. He is now concentrating on his own family but has graciously provided the information by which we will organize the various family groups.
