The main project goal is to prove genetic links between Schneiders in the various Volga German villages. If possible, another goal is to establish genetic links between Volga German Schneiders and Schneiders from certain places in Germany (e.g., Detter and Geroda, Unterfranken) from which the first Volga German colonists originated. The project administrator is especially interested in proving genetic links between the Schneider clans in Stahl am Karaman--die Appels Schneider, die Vakles Schneider und die Wilhelms Schneider.
