Project Goals
The main project goal is to prove genetic links between Schmidts from the various Volga German villages. If possible, another goal is to establish genetic links between Volga German Schmidts and Schmidts from certain areas in Germany from which the first Volga German colonists originated. The project administrator is especially interested in proving genetic links between Schmidts from Stahl am Karaman, Boaro, and Katharinenstadt.
