We have chosen FamilyTreeDNA of Houston, TX as our testing company.
The testing laboratory will be analyzing either the 12, 25 or 37 markers on the Y-Chromosome. If the markers of two or more male individuals match, it will indicate they descend from a common male Salmon(s), Salmond(s), Sammon(s), Salman(s) ancestor. It will not identify the specific ancestor. We recommend ordering, at least, the 25 marker test. However, which test to order, is a personal decision. You can upgrade from the 12 marker to the 25 or 37 marker test at a later dat if desired.
