Project Background: | This project was begun to determine the relationships among Welsh Roderick and Rhydderch families. Roderick and Prydderch (and their variants were derived from Rhydderch, and today there are very few Rhydderch families living in Wales. Except for one, a family from Swansea from the G haplogroup, they are all of haplogroup R1b. One very large family from Llantrisant, Glamorgan, has been studied in considerable detail. Analyses of this family made it possible, with further supporting genealogical data, to match an ancestor into this family.
