Do Ramseys and Ramsays share a common heritage, and can we use genetic methods to determine the origins and the links of the various lines under study by family historians in the Eastern United States? The project began with the relatively narrow aim of identifying locations and family trees in the US for deeper research on Ramsey and Ramsay families, but is now expanding into a new phase where all Ramseys and Ramsays are encouraged to explore their origins together.
