Background

Rains Research Group was begun in the late 1990s to eliminate genealogy research duplication and assist the members in finding their ancestors. After amassing a large database of genealogies for the various spellings of Rains and Rain, we joined the Rainy DNA study to determine if the two surnames were related. Finding that this was not the case, the two studies separated. Through our study we have discovered which lines come from which family trees. We are still in the process of locating and testing the remaining known Rains family descendants so we can have a complete DNA sampling.
