It is a smaller sub-branch of the parental M458 branch. This sister clade of F1 (M458*) is very common in Central European West Slavic countries, especially in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia - that's why it's called West Slavic in the project. However, it is also found in Hungary, Western Ukraine (Lviv region) and Eastern Germany.
The most recent common ancestor of this clade could have lived 2775±400 years ago (calculation by I. Rozhanskii).
The clade is also known as type P (by. P. Gwozdz), West Slavic branch (by A. Klyosov, I. Rozhanskii) or West Ants (Forum.Molgen.org).
This clade has its own
SNP mutation, called
L260.

This is a relatively small cluster that was found in Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia), Belarus and Northern Russia.
In the classification system by A. Klyosov and I. Rozhanskii, the members of the 6.D cluster have been included into the Northern Carpathian branch.
The STR markers that are most characteristic for this cluster are:
DYS390=24, DYS19=17, DYS385b=14, DYS439=10, DYS389-I=14, DYS438=12, DYS578=8 and DYS557=23.
The cluster has its own SNP mutation called L784, hence it can be considered a valid subclade of Z280.

M417+, Z645+, Z283+, Z282+, Z280+, CTS1211+?, (CTS3402+?)
R1a1a1b1a2b
This is another small subcluster belonging to the Southern Balltic type within the Z280 branch. It shows similar distribution to 6.D (i.e. East Prussia, Lithuania, Estonia, Northern Ukraine).
In other classification systems, the members of the 6.E cluster have been included into the Northern Carpathian branch (A. Klyosov and I. Rozhanskii) or Vyatichi (Molgen.org).
The STR markers that distinguish this cluster from other subclusters within the Southern Baltic type are:
DYS390=24, DYS19=15, DYS385b=14, DYS439=10 and DYS578=8.

M417+, Z645+, Z283+, Z282+, Z280+, CTS1211+, (CTS3402+), L365+
R1a1a1b1a2b2
This cluster has its own SNP mutation known as L365, so it can be considered a valid subclade of Z280. It is relatively common on the South Baltic coast, especially in the Eastern part of the Pomerania region. Most L365 members live in Poland or Germany (frequently bearing Slavic surnames), although it is also occasionaly seen further east.
The most recent common ancestor of all L365 members could have lived 2900±400 years ago (as calculated by I. Rozhanskii).
The clade is also known as type G (by. P. Gwozdz) or Northern European branch (by A. Klyosov, I. Rozhanskii), while in the classification of Molgen.org it is named Pomeranian (Forum.Molgen.org)
The characteristic STR values found in most members of this clade include:
DYS458>16, DYS464=13-15-15-16, DYS413=21-22, DYS557>15, DYS446>12.
Clade L365 can be divided into two major subclusters (G1 and G2) that correspond to subtypes Ga and Gb that were previously recognized by Mayka and Gwozdz.
The geographical distribution of the entire L365 clade is shown below:

M417+, Z645+, Z283+, Z282+, Z280+, CTS1211+, (CTS3402+)
R1a1a1b1a2b
This is one of the the largest subclusters within the Southern Baltic type. While most of its members originate from Poland and Eastern Germany, it is also found in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Finland).
Cluster 6.I corresponds to type I in the classification by P. Gwozdz and L. Mayka. Also, it constitutes a major part of some large hypothetical branches proposed in other classification systems, including the Northern Carpathian branch in the classification by A. Klyosov and I. Rozhanskii or Vyatichi (Vyatichi-West) in the classification suggested by Molgen.org.
The most characterictic feauture of this cluster is the presence of a very unique STR value DYS578=9. Other characterisctic STR values that distinguish cluster I from other Southern Baltic subclusters include:
DYS19=17, DYS385b=14, DYS439=10, DYS458=14, DYS714>27, DYS532=12 and DYS504=14.

This is a moderately common cluster with members widely spread over a large portion of continental Europe, ranging from Russia to Britain and Spain, and from Denmark to Italy and Greece, although it seems to be most frequent in Poland, Eastern Germany, Ukraine and Slovakia.
The 6.M cluster is also known as type Ib in the classification by P. Gwozdz and L. Mayka. It corresponds roughly to the Western Eurasian branch 3 (red pins, A. Klyosov and I. Rozhanskii) and Vyatichi-East (Molgen.org).
The STR markers that distinguish this cluster from other subclusters within the Southern Baltic type are:
DYS390>24, DYS19>16, DYS385b=13, DYS439=11, DYS458=15, DYS576=17, DYS570>18, DYS578=8, DYS520=20, DYS463=25, DYS643=9 and DYS461=12.

This is a small though very characteristic cluster, comprising several closely related haplotypes from North-Eastern Poland and Western Germany.
The 6.N cluster is also known as type Ia in the classification by P. Gwozdz and L. Mayka. The members of this cluster have been included into the Western Eurasian Parent branch (yellow pins, A. Klyosov and I. Rozhanskii) or Vyatichi-East (Molgen.org).
The STR markers that distinguish this cluster from other sub-clusters within the broad category M are:

So far, this small sub-cluster has been found in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine) only. Therfore, it has been named Eastern sub-cluster of category M.
In other classification systems, the members of the 6.O cluster have been included into the Northern Carpathian branch (A. Klyosov and I. Rozhanskii) or Vyatichi-West (Molgen.org).
The STR markers that distinguish this cluster from other sub-clusters within the broad category M are:

This hypothetical sub-clade of the Z92 branch is found today mostly in Eastern Europe, especially among Eastern Slavs - that's why it's called East Slavic in the project - though it may have Baltic (East Baltic?) origin.
Most members of this clade live today in Belarus and Russia, although it is also present in Poland, Lithuania, Finland and Ukraine.
The most recent common ancestor of this clade could have lived 2100±250 years ago (as calculated by I. Rozhanskii).
The clade is also known as type E (by. P. Gwozdz), Northern Eurasian branch (by A. Klyosov, I. Rozhanskii) or Veneds (Forum.Molgen.org)
There are some specific Y-STR values for this clade:
DYS385=11-15, DYS464=12-14-14-16, DYS447=25, DYS531=12.
The SNP mutation defining this clade has not been discovered yet, though we know that this branch is downstream of the Z280 and Z92 SNP markers.
