"Walk Through the Y" [WTY] is a unique consumer-funded initiative headed by Thomas Krahn of FTDNA's Genomics Research Center. Its purpose is to sequence large contiguous segments of the Y-chromosome in order to seek out undiscovered SNPs. These new discoveries will both further develop our understanding of the human Y-chromosomal phylogenetic tree (also known as deep ancestry), and can potentially provide group participants with unique and private markers that can aid personal genetic genealogy within a more recent time frame.
