June 2004: Y37 (marker) results show an exact 37/37 match (genetic distance of 0) between the Samuel Pitman Sr. and Timothy Pitman branches. Later results would show that there also was an exact 37/37 match with the Capt. Thomas Pitman line. The Samuel Sr. and Timothy show a 36/37 match (genetic distance of 1) to the Lemuel Pittmon branch.
July 2004: The John Pittman/Polly Rowe line shows a genetic distance of 0" with the Samuel Pitman Sr. and Timothy Pitman lines.
September 2004: DANIEL PITTMAN (bc 1814 TN) /CLARISA/ PENELOPE STUBBS WHITE family line added to DNA project. Daniel first appears in the 1850 Dallas Co. MO census.
November 2004: Test results from a male descendant of Daniel Pittman (1850 Dallas Co. MO and later Cass Co. MO) show a 36/37 match (genetic distance of 0) with the Lemuel Pittmon and John Henry Pittman branches.
February 2005: Y-37 test results from a descendant of John Pittman (1850 Gallatin Co. IL and later Cass Co. MO) are an exact 37/37 match with descendants of the Lemuel Pitman and John Henry Pitman branches, and one marker off with the Daniel Pittman branch of 1850 Dallas Co. MO.
June 2005: Y-37 results for the Elbert Pittman/Nancy Counsel line show a genetic distance of 1 (36/37) with the Samuel Pitman Sr., Timothy Pitman, and John Pitman/Mary "Polly" Rowe lines.
August 2005: DANIEL PITTMAN (b. c 1803) / COMFORT HATFIELD family line added to project. In 1836, Daniel appears in the Marion Co. TN area. In 1840, he and his wife Comfort Hatfield Pittman are in Jackson Co. AL. and in 1850 - 1860 in DeKalb Co. TN.
Results from the John Louis Pittman (b. Nov. 1839) show a 35/37 match (genetic distance of 2 with three previously tested branches: Timothy Pitman, Samuel Pitman Sr. and John Pittman / Mary "Polly" Rowe Pittman.
November 2005: Descendants of JONATHAN PITMAN (b. 1748, Burlington Co. NJ) added to DNA project.
December 2005: Results of DNA testing through the National Geographic Genographic Project were added for a descendant of WILLIAM PITMAN (b. 1647 / 1648 of Boston / Portsmouth, NH). This line is distant from all lines previously tested in our DNA project and is documented much further back in time to England and France. Also, they are the 2nd Pit(t)man line to come into the project from the northern colonies. We hope to bridge our "southern" lines to them somewhere in England.
A MAJOR breakthrough: Results of Y-37 (marker) testing show 37/37 match (genetic distance of 0) between the Jonathan Pitman (b. 1748, Burlington Co. NJ) line and the Daniel Pittman / Comfort Hatfield line. Previous to this the Daniel / Comfort line could only be taken back to approximately 1803.
March / April 2006: Y-37 results of the Philip / Pherebe Pitman line (of Darlington / Kershaw / Chesterfield area of SC. Philip (b circa 1754) show a 37/37 match (genetic distance of 0) with the Timothy Pitman line, Samuel Pitman Sr. line, John / Elizabeth Hampton Pitman line (of Lumberton, NC who migrated to Lumberton, NC in 1765), and the John b 1726 NC/ Mary "Polly" Rowe Pitman line.
Y-37 results from the John / Elizabeth Hampton Pitman line (of Lumberton, NC) show a 37/37 match (genetic distance of 0) with 4 lines: Timothy Pitman, Samuel Pitman Sr, Philip / Pherebe Pittman, and John / Polly Rowe Pittman.
John shows a 36/37 match (genetic distance of 1) with 5 lines: Lemuel Pittmon, John Henry Pittman, Solomon Pitman, John Pittman (1850 Gallatin Co. IL), and the Elbert / Nancy Counsel Pittman line. There is a genetic distance of 2 with the Dan / Penelope Pittman line, and the John Louis Pittman line.
May / June 2006: Test results for John Pittman / Nancy Brooks line show a 37/37 match (genetic distance of "0") with the following family lines: Timothy Pitman, Samuel Pitman Sr., Philip / Pherebe Pitman, John Pitman / Elizabeth Hampton, and John Pittman / Mary "Polly" Rowe.
Results for the William Pittman line (b 1810) show a genetic distance of 33 ("very distant") to all other lines in the project. NOTE: looking at results for Y-12 only, the William Pittman line matched 12 / 12 with the Capt. William Pitman (b 1647 / 1648) line.
William Pittman (bc 1780 SC) test results show a 37 / 37 match with the Solomon Pittman line of SC.
Test results for Uriah Pitman (1735 Burlington Co. NJ) show a 37/37 match with the Daniel (bc 1803) / Camfort Hatfield Pittman line and also the Capt. Jonathan Pitman (b 1748 Burlington Co. NJ) line.
Test results from the Thomas Pitman / Rachael Berry line (Thomas being the brother of William "Longhunter" Pitman) shows a genetic distance of 2(35 / 37 markers match) with the
Uriah Pitman (1735 Burlington Co. NJ) family line, the Daniel (bc 1803) / Camfort Hatfield Pittman line, and also the Capt. Jonathan Pitman (b 1748 Burlington Co. NJ) line.
Test results from the John Pittman (d bet. 6 May 1702 & 14 Sept 1702 / Elizabeth Williams (will recorded) of Lancaster Co. VA show a genetic distance of 1 (36 / 37) with the William Pitman (b 1810 VA) line.
August 2006: Joining the DNA project in August, the family line of RICHARD PITTMAN (bc 1721 NJ and Ann ? (?Truax?). They later moved to (Bedford) now Fulton Co. PN.
Y-37 tests results for the the following lines were received:
John Pittman / Elizabeth Morris: Results show a genetic distance of "4" - distantly related - with the Timothy, Samuel Sr., Philip/Pherebe, James/Eliz. Hampton, John/Polly Rowe, and John/Nancy Brooks Pittman lines.
Micajah Pittman / Lydia Morgan: Test results inconclusive.
Robert Geroge Pittman: Genetic distance of "3" - distantly related - to the Thomas Pittman / Eliz. Williams family line.
Daniel Pittman (bc 1777 and lived in Pendleton District SC and Cherokee Co. GA): Genetic distance of "2" - closely related - to the Uriah, Daniel/Comfort, Capt. Jonathan Pittman family lines.
James Pittman and son Starlin Pittman: Test results were inconclusive.
September 2006: The RUBEN PITTMAN (bc 1760 VA
d 1826 Greenbrier Co. WVA) joined the project.
