Background
Over the past few years a number of Pidgeon researchers have compiled 30 or 40 family trees. Some of these today use the names Pigeon or Pidgen. Many of these family trees originate in Devon, England. Others originate in Norfolk, Shropshire or other central counties in England. Some came to England from Ireland. Pigeon families came to England from Jersey.
Emigration of Pidgeon families from England has occurred from very early times - to America and Canada, to Australia and New Zealand. Some of these families can be traced back to England or Ireland. Others' roots are lost in the mists of time.
How many of these different Pidgeon families are related? Do we all have a common ancestor, or are we different tribes using the same name? This project complements my Pidgeon researches being undertaken as a Member of the Guild of One-Name Studies.
