Well, the plans have begun for the 2007 Phillips Family Reunion. Every "Phillips" in America is ask and invited and counted on, to attend their family's reunion.
Plans for the event are in progress; I'm open for suggestions and help to make sure the day is rewarding for all.
Some tentative plans include;
Explanation of How Genealogy and DNA work together, DNA testing, Presentation of the updated and expanded Phillips Family tree (over 4300 individuals now).
Visiting of historical family homesteads,grave yards, markers and places. A self guide driving tour including maps to Phillips Point's of Interest.
A Dish-2-Pass meal is requested from each family attending (can be a beverage that is non-alcoholic, ice, munchie foods or resturant order).
We have arranged to have a well know Southern Blue Grass Music group. Curtis Blackwell is a Country Music Hall of Fame member who played with Bill Monroe in years past. Other's in his group include 2 time National Champion banzo player Charles Wood. And, Pat Welsh - National Teacher of the Year. They have a Base, Guitar and flat out good dancing sound!
We'll certainly have plenty of time to Meet-N-Greet each other. I plan to be there for the main day of events and for a week after to take in some of the addtional activities. Like; a hike into the Sumter National Forestry to find two pioneer homestead's of the Phillips Family, Searching for private cemeteries, old Trading Post and route (bring your GPS units and come packing).
If this sounds possible for you then mark your calendar for Father's Day June 17, 2007.The location is Mountain Rest, Oconee County, South Carolina. There is a Moutain Rest Community Club facilities located off highway 28, just northwest of junction with highway 107. This has both in-door and out-door facilities so the weather will not be a factor. Come rain or shine, and don't forget your lawn chair.

Come One, Come All. We are getting very good response already from across the country. We only have this event every 3 years so don't miss out this time, you'll have a very long wait.
This will be a great opportunity to share, understand and obtain data about DNA testing and results. Find out how DNA and Geneaology work together. We will all share, gain knowledge and expand our family tree by adding geneaolgy information from those in attendance. Lots of do-it-yourself activities to creat a nice vacation too. Food, fun and meeting your family at large to top everything off with. All this is like getting your cake and eating it too!!!!!

Any one who wants to help with the advancement of this project may make a contribution online from the main web page. This cost have been reduced for project participates.
