This project is a Y-DNA project to determine whether two or more males share a common ancestor in their direct, paternal lines, and how far back in time, in terms of generations, the common ancestor lived. Only males whose biological father is/was a Mosley by birth are eligible for Y-DNA testing. This includes males who carry any variant spelling of the Moseley surname, including Mosley, Mosely, Mozeley, Mozely, etc.

It is vital that we have good paper pedigrees to compare with the test results, too. Beginning today, each DNA candidate will be required to furnish a simple pedigree, with dates and locations of birth, death, marriage and spouses' names.

If you have a "brick wall" in your Mosley/Mosely/Mosely line you can't break through, DNA testing may be the only way to make any further progress. The test itself is a simple cheek swab. The results are confidential and will be kept on file at the lab for 25 years. You will be notified of any close matches during that time.
