We currently have six McNeely (all spellings) participants who are a 25 marker match for each other, and a 35, 36 or 37 on 37 marker match for each other. We believe that these men share a common ancestor. The statistical probabilities indicate that the common ancestor for all of the six men is within eight to twelve generations back, and as the lines for each of these men have been traced back at least six generations using conventional genealogical techniques, the common ancestor for three of the men has already been identified (six generations back from each of the three participants) and identification of the common ancestor for all six men may be close.
We currently have four Neely (all spellings) participants who are a 25 marker match for each other, and a 35, 36 or 37 on 37 match for each other. We believe that these men share a common ancestor. Once again, the statistical probabilities indicate that the common ancestor for all of the four men is within eight to twelve generations back, and as the lines for each of these men have been traced back a number of generations, identification of the common ancestor for all four men may be close.
Finally, we have three participants (two with the surname "McNeely" and one with the surname "Brawley") who currently appear to have unique dna patterns. As more men who qualify participate in the McNeely/Neely Project, we anticipate having matches for these men as well.
