McKee DNA Project - Results

2012

August finds our group membership nearing 70 and with the increased use of SNP testing we see more individual member matches  further refined.     With each new member added to the database our odds are better of finding those with whom we are related in the past.

The McKee Family History research and work of David McFarland of Scotland,  Dr. Robert Kee of Belfast, Ireland, Dr. William Howard  towards their paper of their personal family history research is in the final stages before being published.

 2011
Several subgroups to date:

1) MacKey, Kies, Key

2) McKee via South Carolina - possibly Co Donegal.

3) McKee through North Carolina and South Carolina to all points west.

3) McKee - Kies via Boston, County Cavan, and County Tyrone;

4) McKee-McKie-McGee-MacKie-Kee via  Canada, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, probably all along the east coast areas at any place large enough to harbor a ship.

5) In late 2011, we have developed the hypothesis that the M269 members of  our McKee Group who also appear to be M222+ are linked to Scotland.   Research efforts continue along
 those lines.  (This does not eliminate other haplogroups by any means.)   It is clear that travel across the 12 miles was often easier than travel on land.

6)  Membership has hit 50  for the total group in early 2012.
