About us

Results are posted as they come in. The ydna results we have look pretty good. Two match the first 12 markers, we know they share the same great great great grandfather. The other participant is one marker off on the 12 marker results, tested at 67. The other two, have a 12 marker test, and one, the 37. The one with 67 markers is still only the one marker off at 37 markers. Looks to me to indicate a common ancestor, but just how far back we still don't have knowledge of at this time. I think we have a nice start. Thank you guys. March 10, 2009 We have two mtdna matches on our project. Please note these are not Linsteadt related. Due to mtdna's not being surname specific I added these two ladies kits to this project so that I could better monitor them as the administrator. We are trying to prove our case that my husbands great great grandmother was a sister to Ann Beal Guthrie Moody, I am confident that we have done that. Although to prove it beyond that shadow of a doubt it will take a full sequence test to do that, right now, that is out of the question. But with our paper trail and these matches, I'm convinced. Its one thing to get all the random matches with people you don't have a clue where they belong. But when you have a hint from a old letter dating back to 1867, and find your descendants from each line, and they in fact do match, I don't know what more you could ask of dna, but that they find a way to add the parents names to the results. I'm being ridiculous when I ask this, but reckon there is certain genes in our bodies somewhere that indicate what our names are meant to be? Maybe there is a movie in that thought, talk about science fiction :) I am also allowing anyone to test mtdna through this project that needs a home for their kits. Kathryn Langston
